Voter info

The local body elections are on October 9, 2010 and will be held under the Single Transferable Vote system.
   To vote, you need to be enrolled. If you are:
• over 18;
• a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident;
• have lived in New Zealand continuously for one year or more;
• and have lived at your current address for more than one month
then you are eligible for the residential roll.
   If you are enrolled for the parliamentary elections, you are already enrolled for the local body one. It is based on where you live, so if you need to change your address for the 2010 local body elections, you can get a form from a New Zealand Post outlet, call 0800 367-656, or go to the Elections New Zealand website.

Ratepayer roll
You can be on the ratepayer roll if you are a registered parliamentary elector, and are a non-resident ratepayer who has applied for enrolment on the ratepayer roll; or if you are resident outside of Wellington City and have been nominated by a firm, company, corporation or society paying rates on a property in Wellington City. (You can download the form to apply to be on the ratepayer roll here.)

Further information
You can get more information at the Electoral Officer’s page at the Wellington City Council website.
